Ace Referee uses some information that may be considered sensitive. The application uses location information to present matches to spectators according to proximity. Referees using Ace Referee have the opportunity to allow or disallow their location information to be used. Ace Referee only uses location information when the application is being used for refereeing a match or when a spectator is searching for matches they are interested in.

Ace Referee also makes use of the device's camera to enable referees to scan a barcode from a scorecard printed via its companion app, Bracket Ace, to improve the speed in which a referee can set up to referee a match, and to enhance overall tournament efficiency by sharing results with the Bracket Ace app so that tournament directors do not have to record results themselves.
